Welcome to elastomers.org – A worldwide information resource for the elastomers industry
elastomers.org is the first website devoted to suppliers and users of elastomers and compounding ingredients. A worldwide community will be created online for all to share information on products used in the elastomers industry.
The elastomers industry started from three materials, natural rubber, fabric and solvent. Crude oil was present in the form of a solvent in which the solids (cis-1,4-polyisoprene) from latex were dissolved and then coated on to a cellulose based material called cotton.
It was the realisation that the combination of the intrinsic properties of these three different materials would result in a waterproof composite that gave rise to the elastomers industry.
- Estimates of the number of compounding ingredients are between 5,000 and 10,000. In order to enable easier selection of materials for compounding elastomers.org will compile data from suppliers.
elastomers.org aims to present data in a form that is useful to the compounder. Cross-referencing will be easier and can be customised to suit user needs.
Registration is free
Manufacturers of compounding ingredients will be able to present their products to the wider elastomers industry. Users will be able to make selections of the compounding ingredients and compare and contrast different materials.
At this stage we are building up our worldwide supplier database with product information.
